Osceola Names Native Don Cook Elementary Principal

Native Nebraskan Don Cook is the new elementary principal of Osceola schools based at Jeffrey Grade School. A Hastings College graduate with a 1973 master’s in education, he comes from Pierce where he led elementary schools for three years. He has 15 years of Nebraskan and Iowan teaching, 10 in coaching. avid golfer and bicycle advocate. He and wife Lois Ann have two sons, Don Jr. and Doug. Cook is a U S Army veteran with 18 months in Germany and belongs to Lions, Masons, and United Methodist Church, residing at 560 South Kimmel.

The September moisture total reached 3.52 versus a normal 2.38, with 19.08 year to date against 21.58 normal for nine months. The driest year on record was 1974 with 0.62, while 1965 had the wettest September at 10.29 inches. The hottest day was the 6th at 103 degrees and the coldest mornings were the 28th and 29th at 33 degrees.

Osceola Bulldogs Triumph Over Palmer Tigers In Prep Football

Osceola defeats Palmer 18-6 in a defensive battle with Dan Bond scoring a 4 yard TD and Tim Johansen adding a late six yard return for a TD. Wieseman and Bond led rushing while Carlson and Hiemer contributed receiving yardage and key defensive plays. The game sets up an upcoming Homecoming clash with Henderson Huskies, 7:30 kickoff.
