Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Nelson 73 who died Tuesday October 5 will be held next Tuesday in Osceola at the Lutheran church with burial at Stromsburg. She died in Glendale California where brief services were held before shipping the body to Osceola. Her son Dave of Detroit flew to Glendale after her death. The family once lived in Osceola in what was known as the Claus Anderson property in west Osceola.

Tractor accident kills Polk county farmer Arthur Eberly
Arthur Eberly a young Polk county farmer was killed instantly when his tractor with a front scoop toppled on a slope and pinned him, crushing his chest. The scene was two miles west and two miles south of Stromsburg near the Blue River. He was married with no children. Neighbors lifted the machine and rescue was unsuccessful. The county extends sympathy to his wife.
