Polk County Sailor Dies in Truck Car Crash
Seaman Irvin Adolph Forss, 27, home on leave from Alameda California, was killed in a two truck accident near Columbus and Schuyler. The second truck was towed, protruded into Forss side, causing the collision. Lindburg and other occupants survived with minor injuries. Forss, in the Navy 14 4 years and 20 months in Aleutians, is survived by his parents, sister, and brother. Funeral held at Swede Home Church with full military honors.

At Lingayen a Jap flag appeared on the conn. another boat decorated the stern with explosives. the hull was pounded by heavy surf and repairs required a crawler crane. A typhoon off Wakayama followed before they rode it out.

Stanton Named Polk County Veteran Service Officer
J. T. Stanton was appointed a part time Veteran's Service Officer for Polk County under Legislative Bill 361. The appointment follows a Polk County Veteran's Service Coordinating Committee selection approved by the state committee to aid World War II veterans in understanding rights, education, and employment. Stanton, a Marine Corps veteran of World War I and II, served as Base Legal Officer at San Diego and as Chief Legal Officer for the 4th Naval District, and will begin duties December 4 1945, meeting Fridays and Tuesdays.
