Rex Dunn son of Mr and Mrs Fred J Dunn is 23 graduated from Osceola high school in 1939. He has advanced to corporal and has a Technician Rating with the Motor Division stationed in the Camal Zone.
Farmers and farm workers across Polk County contributed to a strong corn harvest with about 95 percent headed for the crib by Thanksgiving. The effort included farm women and high school youths who picked corn during a ten day vacation, with some boys earning up to sixty five dollars. Notable participants included Jim Chantry, Dick Mills, Stanley Braithwaite, Bill Norton, Gene Cole, Sam Byers, Art and Billy Umshler of Osceola.
Rev G A Randall leads church school at 10 a m and communion at 11 a m. The First Quarterly Conference meets Tuesday December 1 at 7 30 p m. W SCS groups meet Friday November 27. Choir rehersals Friday evenings for Christmas music. invitation extended to congregational singers.
Miss Audrey Koons of Lincoln arrived in Osceola to take over duties as music instructor. She earned a Masters from the University of Nebraska last August and will lead band and orchestra and direct Glee Club and elementary music in the lower grades.

The Stoner Club met at Sue Cook's home on Wednesday with officers elected for the term: Pres Sue Cook, VP Mae Scholz, Secy Daisy Zang, Treas Vinnie McKeag. Members spent the afternoon sewing pajamas for the Osceola Red Cross chapter. Visitors and local residents were noted in Shelby and Stromsburg areas.

Sergeant Julius K. Schlesinger Jr age 29 son of Mr and Mrs Julius F Schlesinger. A Shelby high school graduate who joined the U S army June 26 1942 he is now stationed at Seattle Washington.

The W G Herrmann farm sale drew many locals and a lunch stand profit of 82 dollars was recorded at Wesley Chapel. Visitors included Mr and Mrs Jay Timmons and children and Miss Helen Dunn from Beatrice to see Bert Dunn and family.
