Honey Sunday drives aid Osceola with statewide help

On November 21 Osceola hosted the annual Honey Sunday drive organized by the Nebraska Association for Retarded Citizens and Polk County chapter. Osceola volunteers collected 225.38 dollars door to door with some honey left to be picked up at local churches. Proceeds fund state and local programs aimed at improving life and reducing poverty and fear.

Auxiliary Membership Reaches Historic High at Post 91

Four women were initiated into the American Legion Auxiliary at William Wolfe Post 91 on Friday November 19 raising total unit membership to 130 the largest since the Auxiliary was organized in 1924. New members are Mrs Lee Boden Mrs Alan Russell Mrs Wesley Peterson and Mrs Max Hennings.

Bond And Schott Earn All Conference Honors

OHS seniors Dan Bond and Mark Schott earned All Conference recognition in the Goldenrod Conference East Division with Bond named to the Class C-2 honor roll as safety and Schott at linebacker. Six Bulldogs received Honorable Mention, including Bond at running back and other players across positions. The report also notes Cancer Crusade proceeds of 3514 dollars for 1975 76 and upcoming activities with local officers and branch chairmen sought.

Funeral rites held for Frank Flatt 46 in Osceola

Frank Flatt died Friday in an Omaha hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Képner Roberts Funeral Chapel with burial in Osceola cemetery. An obituary will appear next week.

Tree seedlings for windbreaks shelterbelts and wildlife areas available from November 1 through April 1 1977. Upper Big Blue NRD and SCS will provide planting plans with costs 35 cents per tree and 90 percent survival with good weather. Special new trees include Southwestern White Pine and Jack Pine plus many conifers and broadleaf species. End of notice notes cost share options through ASCS and potential Forestry Incentive Program help.
