Shoppers filled Osceola last Saturday as merchants launch big sales. Duncan’s commissary plans a Dec 4 sale while Monson Block stores run a thriving November sale. Other lines show optimism for the coming month and residents are urged to make Osceola a trading point.
Twin girls born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Glatter Jr. at home Thursday. Mrs. C. W. Moon healing after Methodist Hospital surgery in Omaha. Shelby High Carnival draws large crowd and lively popularity contest. Local attendees include Dr. Myers, Chas McBeth, Louis Hastert, Albert Gabriel, Raymond Tryba, and Francis Hastert at Lincoln football. Various visits and visits to Lincoln and Omaha for family health and holidays.
The St Paul Ev Lutheran Church announces a Thanksgiving program under Harmony Society auspices with events including the Bethphage Box. Luther League events, Sunday School at 10, Swedish service at 11, English service at 7:30, and a congregational meeting for a pastor on Tuesday at 8. Ladies Aid hosts Thursday at 2:30. Luther League trip to Stromsburg on December 2.

The Stoner Club met with ten members and visitors on Wednesday November 17. Officers chosen were Christina Burritt president Daisy Zang vice president Edith Hene secretary Hazel Randall assistant secretary Mamie Brown treasurer. A patchwork comforter for Kis charity was planned for the December 15 meeting hosted by Nellie Watts.
County Treasurer Fillman and assistant Kenneth Cornish are busy collecting personal taxes due November 1. Willman notes more receipts issued than last year though cash totals stay proportionally similar. Misses Norton and Schulz spent Saturday in Lincoln attending the game.
The Business Women's League hosts a bazaar at the Farmers Union Store on Saturday December 4 featuring a fine assortment of articles suitable as Christmas gifts including guitars and other items.
The Nebraska Wesleyan University Male Quartet will give a vocal and instrumental recital with readings next Sunday at 11:00 AM, free will offerings to cover expenses. Sunday evening at 7:30 a devotional service focuses on a celebrated historical figure. Sunday School officers meet Friday for a fellowship supper and conference. Sunday School at 10 AM and Epworth League at 6:30 PM.
