S. P. Johnson Sells Osceola Grain Business to Smit h

S. P. Johnson sold his grain elevator and business in Osceola last week to Everette Smith with the transfer effective January 1. Johnson ran the elevator for 25 years, giving the town a reputation for high grain prices. Smith, formerly manager of Farmers Co op Grain Co., takes ownership as secretary and treasurer of the new corporate management.

Osceola high school honors senior Ruby Walgren as 1946 football queen at a candle light ceremony. Harold Cole placed the crown. flower girl Joyce Roberts and attendants Peg Starokseth Marcia Pratt Elvera Carman Doris Wieseman escorted to the throne. A previous football banquet in the high school gym featured speeches by Dr C R Peterson W W Norton and the new captain.

Nebraska's October 1876 onward record shows the largest state average precipitation with 4.12 inches, while temperatures ran slightly below normal. Eastern and western divisions did not surpass prior records, but the central division exceeded previous totals, contrasting with last year's October average of 0.20 inch.
