Mr and Mrs Don Byers spent the holiday weekend with Mrs G C Fonda in Grand Island returning home Monday evening. Mr and Mrs George Heckman and family visited Friday evening with Mr and Mrs Raymond Johnson and Carole at Swede Home.
Churches and civic groups in Osceola join a drive for materials for Nebraska Goodwill Industries. A representative will collect donations around November 29 1956 from housewives. Osceola helpers include Mrs Marlin Johnson and Mrs Harold Nelson. Donations clothing shoes appliances and small furniture aid employment for disabled workers at Goodwill.
Weekly patient report for November 5 to November 12 lists discharged and deceased individuals across Osceola Shelby Stromsburg Fullerton Silver Creek and Polk entries. Mr and Mrs Herman Anderson and Alice Jane of Stromsburg and Mr and Mrs John Anderson joined Mr and Mrs Albert Anderson and Yvonne for a Sunday dinner.
Osceola local stores will observe Thanksgiving closing Thursday November 22 and Christmas closing Tuesday December 25. New Year’s Day will also be a closing date. Patrons should plan ahead as stores will be shut next week on Thursday.
The junior class stages a three act comedy titled Grandma How Could You directed by Miss Lou Teter at the high school auditorium Tuesday November 20 at eight. Cast includes Madge Talmadge Donna McBeth Glenn Talmadge Iris Pruitt Betsy Nash Lara Scudder and others with adult admission 65 cents student 35 cents child 25 cents. Lunch will follow the performance.
Sunday gatherings highlighted visits by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Varner and Diane of Council Bluffs Iowa with Harley Varner and mother Mrs. M. F. Varner. Philip Nyberg and daughters visited Edwin Anderson in Stromsburg. Hershel Ehlers and children Judy and Chris of Utica were guests of Mrs. Ehlers’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Varner.
Osceola Implement Company completed the purchase of Reece Tractor and Equipment stock and some equipment. The Ford equipment line joins Osceola Implement’s franchises at their highway location with full parts service and repair. Robert Miller moves with the Reece staff as service man to the new dealer.
Mr and Mrs Clair Emmons who sold their Osceola residence will move to California soon hold a public auction Saturday November 24 at a location four blocks south and one half block west of the post office in Osceola. Watch next week for the full list.

In Nebraska's Third District incumbent Bob Harrison appears to be narrowing a lead held by Democrat Lawrence Brock as Tuesday mail ballots show Harrison leading in all reported counties. Three counties remain uncounted.
Radio reports at press time Wednesday stated that Harrison led Brock with two counties still to be counted.
Mail ballot results show Harrison 1968 and Brock 893 after excluding Col fax Dodge and Thurston. If the three counties yet to be counted follow this trend, Brock's earlier lead narrows to a toss up. Harrison led Polk county 63 to 25.

A large group of friends gathered Friday at Mrs. Eugene Johansen’s home to honor Mrs. DeVon Johnson with a bridal shower. Bunco was played and a bronze and aqua color scheme featured in the decorations as the bride received many gifts.
