Wm. Van Doren, 48, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday evening on his way home from work in Seattle Washington. He is survived by his wife Signe Sandin and one daughter Diana. The body was brought to Osceola and funeral services were held Thursday at Swede Home Church.

Polk Farm Home Destroyed by Fire
A fire started in the furnace room destroyed the Alec Adelson farm home north of Polk early Thursday. Polk and Stromsburg fire departments could not control it due to the strong north wind. the Adelson family saved only a few pieces of furniture. The house, nearly new and only partially insured, was one of the newer farm homes in the area.

Regina Dericks Thelen born in Neuse Rhineland Germany on December 6 1863 died November 9 1945 at age 81 years 11 months at her son Hermans Shelby home. She immigrated 1880 from Germany married August Thelen September 12 1881 and raised eight children on a farm south of Shelby. Funeral Monday at Sacred Heart Church Shelby with burial at Union Cemetery.

Ernest L. Rogers 76 of Osceola died November 5 at St Francis Hospital Osceola after a life spanning Michigan Nebraska and Colorado. He helped found a wind mill and farm implement business in Shelby and built wells for the city. He is survived by his wife Vera Cartes six children ten grandchildren and his siblings. Funeral services were held November 8 at Kepner Funeral Home with burial in Shelby cemetery.
