Former Shelby Priest Killed in Aurora Collision
Rev. Father Joseph Ress aged 65, pastor of Sacred Heart Church of Burchard, died in an automobile crash seven miles west of Aurora Tuesday afternoon. Five women were injured, three seriously, including Kathryn Graff, home demonstration agent of Hamilton County. Ress and Miss Heser were en route from Buchard to Gilter when their car hit Graff’s at a weed-obscured intersection. Ress had served as pastor since February 10 last year after ordination in 1896. his prior pastorates included St. Mary Shelby Utica Beaver Crossing Gresham and others.

Last Thursday evening members of St. Paul Lutheran Church held a reception at the church for Rev. Paul Melin and his family who depart for St. Paul Minnesota. The ten year community stay was marked by musical numbers and farewell speeches. Rev. Melin received a money gift and Mrs. Melin a bouquet. about 200 attended lunch. The Missionary Society hosted a separate farewell party Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Melin with a parting gift.
