The group, famed for Hour of Charm on NBC, receives high praise from Toscanini and has recently played a three-week New York Paramount Theatre run.
The Methodist Church outlines Sunday activities with 10 00 A M Sunday School led by El ton Berck and 11 00 A M Morning Worship titled Our Debts. Evening events include 6 30 P M Intermediate League and 7 00 P M Senior League. Ladies Aid Service Committee lists five organizers and plans the Ladies Aid Bazaar and Dinner on Friday November 18.
L P Samuelson 82 Polk County pioneer died Saturday after a short illness. Born in Sweden he settled on a Polk County farm in 1890 and remained there. He belonged to Swede Plain Church funeral Tuesday morning with Rev Staley Broken Bow assisted by Rev Hix Stromsburg and Rev Pengelly Polk. His wife and eight children survive including Albert Council Grove Fredolph Comstock Rudolph Boston Arthur Stromsburg Everett Elm Creek Ann Chillicothe Missouri Ruth Stromsburg.
Unofficial vote results noted for Polk County Gen Election. On Friday November 11 at 7 00 pm 4 H members and leaders gather in the Methodist Church basement for a covered dish luncheon. The program includes a toastmaster group singing talks and a moving picture of the county fair.

Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Anderson included Denah Samuelson and Vern on Anderson of Lincoln, Isaac Samuelson of Polk, and Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Anderson of Osceola. Alaska traveler Karl Larson toured Sweden cousins Ernest Carlson, visiting from Skagway, with further stops in Auburn Maine New York Ohio Chicago and planned visits to Oakland and Seattle. Gail Hall won a regional citizenship contest and will compete in Omaha on November 14. Dean Sharp fractured his leg after a fall at home and is in Stromsburg hospital. Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Nelson and Mrs. Ralph Tschauner arrived from Claremore Oklahoma after three weeks with their daughter, Tschauner visiting Stromsburg briefly. Reuben Jones family and Mrs. Charlotte Ekstrand attended the fifty first wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Jones in Hordville. Arthur Hultquist and family spent Sunday with the George Malek family in Osceola.
The Polk County Fair Association holds its annual meeting at the Court House in Osceola Nebraska on Wednesday November 16 at 2 o clock. JAY HASTINGS serves as the contact reference for the notice.
Ladies Aid will meet Thursday afternoon in the gberch parlors with Mrs Gust hindgren and Mrs Sanders Peterson entertaining. Friday evening the choir is to meet for practice. Every member is requested to be present. Mr and Mrs Ted Fitch of Lincoln spent Sunday at the Walter Bush home. Mr and Mrs Ollie Johnson motored to Lincoln and brought home their daughter Darlene who has been a patient at Bryan Memorial hospital for three days. Mr and Mrs Ansel Fredrickson and Dale spent Saturday evening at the Roger Headley home near Clarks. Mrs Johanna Larson spent Friday and remained until Monday at the Wm Larson home.
John Allen, 87, died at his daughter’s home in Seattle last Friday. A former Lincoln resident, he was known as the brother in law of Mrs. John Herrman and P. C. Wieseman. Funeral services were held Thursday at First Methodist Church in Lincoln with interment in Lincoln Cemetery.
Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company launches a November sales drive across southeast and south central Nebraska to sell telephones. The Bring Home The Bacon campaign offers a prize picnic for the area with the highest sales quota, with Stromsburg winners planned for early December.
Mrs. John McBeth died at her home Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. An obituary will be published next week.
Congressman Charles G Binderup, Democratic candidate for re election in the Fourth District, paid a total fine of 13 dollars and costs after pleading guilty to failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of highways 14 and 34. He appeared before County Judge Scott at Aurora on Saturday morning and was arrested by a state patrolman last Sept 27. County Attorney Gibson entered the plea to allow him to continue with his campaign.
Mr and Mrs Emil Anderson moved Saturday from Mrs George Blevins residence in west Shelby and have taken rooms in Shelby hotel. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Scow welcomed a baby boy Gene Carrol born at the hospital in Shelby Thursday November 3. Sven McClung of Omaha and family visited Shelby and vicinity Friday and Saturday. Fred Berger, recently ill, went by Kepner ambulance to the home of his daughter Mrs Ed Scow for winter care. Mrs Olive Noble will assist. Mr and Mrs Marion Thomas brought home Roy Thomas from Lutheran hospital in Columbus after a goitre operation. Chester Cole and daughters with Lott family attended a birthday party at Roscoe Crumbliss home. Cole families from Lincoln and Ceresco visited. Chester Cole attended Mrs W J Henderson funeral in Rising City. Mrs Henderson is mother of Mrs Albert Crossant. Polk County Methodist ministers held a meeting in Shelby with a noon dinner.

Polk County farmers are invited to the annual Farm Bureau meeting on Friday November 18 with a covered dish luncheon. Board members will be elected from Stromsburg Hackberry and Clear Creek Precincts using a nominating ballot followed by an elective ballot. Reports from the resolutions committee led by Mrs Lloyd Hahn and various club leaders will be presented along with group singing and moving pictures.
The Brotherhood of Greens Chapel meets Monday November 14 with D E Powell and committee. The Jolly Workers Extension Club meets Wednesday November 16 at Mrs Elmer Kindbergs with Mrs Alvin Burke assisting. The Stoner Club hosts at Mrs Wm Burritts with Mrs Scholz assisting. Lutheran Church marks thirty five year anniversary Building with Christ theme.
The Osceola Bulldogs edged Cedar Rapids to raise their season score to 500 and move to 3 wins and 3 losses with two games left. The lone touchdown came when Dick Anderson and Bob Mills recovered a fourth quarter fumble for Cedar Rapids. A late Osceola passing drive was stopped by Cedar Rapids with a five man line.
Mr and Mrs Delbert Urban announce the birth of a baby boy on Tuesday November 8. The infant weighed seven and a half pounds at birth.
Kindergarten pupils construct a playhouse using orange crates for furniture and wrapping paper shingles. Donna Rae Addison supplies two kitchen chairs, Carol Miller brings a broom, and Max Anderson offers a telephone for ordering groceries. The house shows wear but provides ongoing enjoyment and lessons in sharing.
Wesley Chapel Church Aid schedules Friday evening meeting at the church with cookies. The Womens Foreign Missionary Society plans a meeting next week with Mrs Irene Williams. A farewell party was held at Jarmin Schoolhouse for Mr and Mrs Harry McBeth and Mr and Mrs Alfred Struebing as they prepare to move. Families and neighbors shared visits and birthday wishes amid long community ties and weekend gatherings across Rising City Shelby and surrounding farms.
