Mr and Mrs John Nordstrom of Polk County marked sixty years of marriage with an open house hosted by their daughter at her home. Married in Sweden on October 28, 1878 the couple emigrated to the United States in 1879 and settled on a Polk County farm before moving to their current Polk home in 1929. Fire Destroys Barn and Granary North of Polk
A large barn and granary on the Mrs. Joe Swanson farm five miles north of Polk burned at noon Thursday. Firefighters arrived too late to save the structure. feed and corn were destroyed and several animals were moved to safety. Two weeks earlier the Maurice Lindburg farm home north of Polk was lost to fire, prompting requests for a new fire truck and equipment.
