Polk County followed Nebraska in a sweeping Democratic gain across national and state offices. Incumbent officials Dan Swinson and Sorenson fell as voters backed Roosevelt. Local contests centered on County Judge Norton’s re election and Commissioner seat in the southeast district with Lee Campbell losing narrowly to F W Peterson. The Ossco la Swede Home community mourns Miss Margaret Larson, 23, who died after a brief illness. funeral services were held in Osceola with interment in Osceola Cemetery.

Raymond Hansen fractured the large bone below the knee in a Victor football fall and will wear a cast and miss a few days of school. Others planned to travel to York.

Death of Dr J C Malster Shocks Stromsburg
Stromsburg residents mourn the sudden death of Dr J C Malster from a heart attack at his home. A physician for over 32 years, he served in Pell County politics in 1926 27 and was active in the Masons and community. He leaves three daughters Maurine Clara and Louisa a brother Dr R M Malster and three sisters. Funeral services were held Thursday at his home led by Rev C V Powell.

Golden Wedding Anniversary for Mr and Mrs A A Gray
Mr and Mrs A A Gray celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a Sunday noon family dinner. The couple were married in 1882 in Cowden Illinois and moved to Polk County Nebraska in 1887.
