Thumb Gripped Between Pole and Transformer At Worksite
Harry Gould of York an employee of the Iowa Nebraska Light and Power Company suffered a crushed thumb when it was caught between an electric light pole and a transformer Tuesday. Linemen worked near the Burchfield building south of Carrer Drug Store. Gould climbed the pole as the transformer swung over his hand and squeezed it. He fainted after being lowered to the ground and it was initially feared he had been electrocuted.

Roadside Collision Near Osceola Leaves Both Cars Damaged
Paul Englehardt drove a Buick roadster that struck a York Hupmobile on the highway between Osceola and Shelby Monday night. Englehardt’s car emerged with fenders and bumper torn. the Hupmobile was so badly wrecked it was sold to the Osceola Wrecking Company. No serious injuries reported. Road conditions are suspected as a factor.

Beginning Friday November 16 St Pauls Lutheran Church will celebrate its 25th founding anniversary. The congregation formed November 14 1903 in the city’s Presbyterian church and began regular activities. Visiting pastors including Rev O A Johnson Rev N A Nelson and Rev A Serenius will participate in scheduled programs Friday evening Reformation address and festival opening Saturday 1030 AM a historical program led by Rev O A Johnson with the other visiting pastors. Death of Charles Humiston in Nebr. Tragic Highway Accident
Charles Humiston born October 4, 1898 in Shelby Nebraska died October 31, 1928 in Scottsbluff Nebraska after a truck rack struck him while walking to work with his brother near the river bridge. He married Hazel Cook on October 3, 1922 and leaves three children Betty Jane Robert Melvin and Dorothy Lea plus his parents four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church in Shelby with interment in Shelby Cemetery.
