The Farmers State Bank of Osceola is reorganized and A Frasier who ran the Osceola Bank under state ownership has secured substantial stock and will manage functions with his family remaining in the community. Frasier brings 18 years in banking and is praised as a safe banker for winding up Osceola Bank without disruption.
Josiah Douglas Hartman born February 19 1857 in Schuyler County Illinois died October 24 1928 at his Osceola Nebraska home aged 71 years 8 months 6 days He moved to Hancock County Illinois at age three later settled in Polk County Nebraska and two years in Colorado He married Nancy Jane Iler January 22 1888 Survived by wife adopted daughter grandson and several siblings He served as Osceola\u2019s first mayor in 1907 was elected Polk County Sheriff 1901 and reelected 1903 and was deputy sheriff at death He belonged to Odd Fellows Mason and Modern Woodmen The funeral was held at home with Rev H Collier and at cemetery by the I O F Interment at Osceola Cemetery
Lincoln attorney Petrus C. Peterson a former Polk County boy will speak at Osceola courthouse Saturday at 8 oclock under the sponsorship of the Republican State Committee. Citizens urged to attend.
The Polk County Farm Bureau Federation will hold a dinner and program in Scott's Hall Stromsburg on Saturday November 3 at 6 30 p.m. State secretary C B Steward will give the principal address. Greens Chapel ladies will serve the dinner as part of the annual farmers fun feed and meeting to discuss county state and national farm issues.
The bank announces its reorganization and the election of Mr. C. A. Frasier, a banker with eighteen years of experience, as Vice-President. He has acquired a substantial interest in the bank and will be active in management.

The Record endorses Dr. Minnick of Stromsburg for Polk County representative in the Nebraska Legislature. A longtime Stromsburg mayor and dentist, he has minimal campaigning and broad appeal across parties. The community mourns the death of Mrs Julia James on Tuesday morning after a year of ill health. She leaves her son T A James and daughter Mrs R Cox among others. The funeral will be held at her son’s home with Rev Powell in charge.
Hints of a busy week with Nov 7 meeting planned with Mrs Lee Campbell. York visitors include Mr and Mrs Hallie James and Mr and Mrs Horton McKeag who welcomed a baby Donna Jeanne Oct 23. Dr Harris and wife from Kearney visited Mrs Clyde Reed Friday evening.
The Presbyterian Church invites worship next Sunday November 4 with sermons at 11:00 AM Christian Home-coming and 7:30 PM What It Is All About. Next Thursday at 7:30 PM the pastor-elect Rev Irwin G Smith will be installed by a committee of the Omaha Presbyterian Church. Rev L C Denise D D president of Omaha Theological Seminary Rev R W Taylor D D Feld representative will attend. B E Swallow and family of St Edwards were guests of Mrs Hollis Dolan and family.
The Sunday School greatly aided the Near East Relief appeal presented by Dr. Vartanian last Sunday with fifteen shares subscribed and one third of the amount paid in cash. Dr. Vartanian praised the Sunday School for its generosity and urged attendance at services including Sunday School at 10 A M and Worship at 11 A M, with evening services and mid week service on Wednesday at 7 30. Robert Andersen of Lincoln visited his parents Mr and Mrs Joseph Anderson for the weekend.
Voters are asked to approve county funds from the general fund to hire a county agricultural agent under the farm bureau. The measure limits an annual levy to one fifth mill of assessed valuation, with a $3500 cap. County officials say current funds suffice. no levy is planned for next year.
