Halloween Party Brings Costumed Fun to Osceola Youths
American Legion and Auxiliary with Osceola Chamber of Commerce hosted a Halloween party in Legion clubrooms. More than forty children were judged in three divisions with prizes of 5, 3, and 1 dollars. Treats were handed out, and winners included Raggedy Ann and Andy, the dog, and twin scarecrows among others. Gerald Johansen entered Clarkson Hospital for arm surgery.

NPPD approves January retail and wholesale rate increases
The Nebraska Public Power District board approved rate hikes affecting both wholesale and retail customers with two year wholesale rates set for 1976 and 1977 and retail increases taking effect March 1 1976. Residential bills in large cities up 32 percent and in smaller towns up 28 percent. Wholesale customers face about 49 to 51 percent increases depending on size and district.

Results of the Ernest and Julia Flodman land sale held Wednesday October 29 at the County Court House show Horace Stevens of Polk purchasing the 80 acre tract for 73500, Burdette Flodman of Stromsburg buying 37 acres for 21000, and Clarence Meerkatz of Polk acquiring 160 acres for 217000. Sheriff’s report notes two break-ins in Shelby October 31 with the A and B restaurant door damaged and small cash taken. Jack and Jill grocery reported no missing items.
