Shelby remains undefeated as the Crossroads conference lead. Osceola, after a mixed record, can clinch a playoff with a win at Genoa Friday. Stromsburg beat Polk and meets East Butler in a non conference clash. Polk sits fourth in class D after a loss to Stromsburg and a tie with Osceola. Mrs. Thomas Reece, cashier clerk at Osceola for Consumers Public Power District, received 20 year service recognition Friday. R. H. Cortner of York district manager presented the emblem. she began with Consumers on Oct. 27 1947.
The Art Instruction School in Minneapolis Minn will keep permanently Mrs Pearl Barr's three entries Pioneer Kitchen Tiger and Pepper in his Blanket from its annual competition These works will travel in exhibitions and be shown to visitors nationwide to inspire new art students.
Shelby's Huskies beat Bradshaw 54 12 to claim the loop title. Mike Voss opened with a 2 TD game on a 7 yard pass from Kevin Abbott and a 14 yard run. Dan Wombacher scored three times on 25 8 and 15 yard runs. Craig Buchholz scored on a 19 yard Abbott pass. Abbott added a 7 yard keeper and Bob Smith scored after an 11 yard pass. Randy Peterson kicked six extra points.
The Osceola Schools will not be in session Monday Nov 6 while Polk County teachers attend an In-Service Institute via bus trip to Dist 66 near Omaha to observe the school system. A TEA Handicraft Workshop is set for Nov 7 at 2 p.m. in Shelby. Local accident notes a worker losing part of a thumb and finger. Polk County receives 610 dollars from Consumers PPD as half 1967 real and personal tax payment. Christmas party for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs scheduled for Dec 10 at 6 p.m.
Osceola's Bulldogs deflated Palmer to move to 32-0 this season and 5-0 1-1 in Goldenrod conference play. With one game left, the finale at Genoa Friday at 7:30 p.m. shows the team’s strong offense as they scored in every quarter and opened the first drive with a 94 yard march.
Mr and Mrs Dwight Burney of Polk presented a Pakistan themed program to the Osceola Chamber of Commerce. Slides and souvenirs narrated themes of Christmas promotion beautification industrial progress finance and a damaged welcome sign west of town led by Richard Archie Klein who presided at the meeting with Mrs Leroy Johnson modeling a blue sari.

Makowski of Fullerton and Dennis J. Voichahoske of Fullerton charged with drinking on highways, 25 dollars each. Dale M. Wall of Hastings cited for night speeding with 60 dollars and costs. Darrell G. Gabel of Shelby cited for night speeding with 30 dollars and costs. Social notes record weekend visits by the Howards family of Palisade Colorado and Hastings family from Kansas City Missouri, plus other regional gatherings and district convention attendance in Clarks. Family visits and birthdays also noted with town and family names.
The UNICEF drive by three local church high school youth groups totaled 117.60 with thanks to contributors aiding feed and clothe needy children worldwide. An item notes a death in Gresham and a wedding anniversary open house in Shelby, plus Osceola juniors to present a play November 10 with listed cast members.
