Bulldogs Score First Of Year In Genoa Defeat

The Osceola Bulldogs lost to Genoa but finally scored against them for the first time this year. Osceola led 7-6 in the second quarter before Genoa took a 13-7 lead, then pulled away as the game finished in a seesaw second half. Osceola meets Silver Creek next Friday at Silver Creek.

Expensive Pheasant Crash Near Stromsburg

Mr and Mrs Joel Calkins of Hebron visited his parents in Osceola. A stray pheasant struck their Chevrolet windshield two miles north of Stromsburg causing the car to overturn in a ditch. The occupants escaped with minor injuries before the vehicle caught fire. The car had new tires and a new motor.

Col. Omer W. Herrmann and Mrs Beth Herrmann visited his parents Rev and Mrs John M Herrmann this week. He returns from two years overseas duty as Eisenhower’s Food and Agricultural Chief on SHAEF in Northwest Europe and later in the American zone in Germany with headquarters at Frankfurt. He earned a Bronze Star for France liberation and will rejoin the USDA in Washington.

Farm Plans Signed In 1945 Hit Community Review

The 1945 Farm Plans signed last spring are now issued to Community Committee men who will contact each farm operator to collect information on conservation practices and wheat acreage from insured farmers. Sheep subsidy drafts and applications are at the county office with a 60 day evidence window. Dairy Feed payments cover July to September and signed applications must reach the office by November 30.

Mrs. John Janing died October 25 at Marcellus Michigan aged 95 years 2 months. She had been in good health until about two months ago. Funeral services were held Monday with burial at Three Rivers Michigan.

Returned Vets Get FSA Loans in Four-State Area

A report shows 81 World War I veterans among 379 families receiving new Farm Security Administration loans in July to September. Average loan amount 1738 dollars funds livestock equipment and farming costs.
