Osceola American Legion and Legion Auxiliary organize a two part Armistice Day program for Monday November 12 with an afternoon patriot ic service at the Auditorium at 1 30 featuring Rev G T Lavery of Shelby and a talk America’s Golden Hour plus music, a possible Morningside Field football game, a showing of Master of Men and an evening dance with Wilson’s six piece orchestra. attendees can plan to attend multiple portions or just select events to fit their day.

Mr and Mrs Chris Behle returned from Groton South Carolina after a week with their daughter Mrs Nettie Warkentine. A Hallowe en Social at the home of Mr and Mrs Alvin Merrick brought mirth and merriment with Sunday school students forming the city delegation. Will Hope returned from York with Mrs Hope and daughter Edith who was operated on for appendicitis and is progressing well. Mrs Nancy Dieleman hosted the Royal Neighbors with refreshments provided by Mrs E L Rogers Mrs Fred Schmaker and Mrs E L Gooden. Reverend Adolf Serenius will leave Monday for Rock Island Illinois for Augustana homecoming and a visit with his son Vernon, then travel to Chicago for two lectures and stop in Harcourt Texas before aiming to return to Osceola by November 16.

Obituary of Estella Gregg of Pasadena California
Mrs Estella Gregg died at her Pasadena home after living there since September last. She was born in Indiana and grew up in Nebraska, lived in the county for years, and had been married to Frank Wilson and later to George W Gregg. Survived by two brothers Frank Fentress Norfolk Nebr and Martin Fentress Pasadena. Her father served in the Union army and died in service. Funeral held in Pasadena and friends remember her as a active community figure and faithful friend.

Fatal accidental gun discharge ends Rising City hunter’s life
Robert H. Wade of Rising City was killed when a shotgun discharged while he and companion L. O. Stoker and others hunted ducks south of Rising City. The blast struck Wade in the back as he helped LaMunyon set a blind. Wade, about 35 and a World War veteran, died after receiving treatment. Funeral held. survived by wife, parents O. E. Wade, a brother Royal Wade, and a sister.
