The Osceola football team defeated Crete at Morningside in a hard hitting game. Capt. Fillman led the bear cats with standout defense and play while Hastings and Byers contributed a touchdown reception and strong running. Crete faced a tall, persistent foe as Osceola used solid teamwork to secure the victory.

Mrs Caroline McGinnis died at her daughter Mrs S W McDaniel's home last Thursday. Funeral services were held Sunday at the home and at the M E church in Polke at 2 30 led by Rev Scott. Melvin Ewing Daniel born April 17 1869 Malta Morgan County Ohio died October 24 1923 at his Beulah home after years of illness. He settled in Polk County Nebraska in 1880 with his parents and married Millie Brown in 1892 at Iowa City Iowa. Surviving are widow and three children Irene Clark Chalmer and Dale Daniels, plus brothers T W Daniel of Schuyler and E S Daniel of Omaha and sister Mrs Mary Thompson of Michigan. Funeral at the valley home then First Methodist church. Also mentions J L Hartman York and Osceola Cemetery origins and Frances Marquis and other relatives.

Pioneer woman Sarah A. Timmons remembered in Nebraska obituary

Sarah A. Timmons born April 15 1845 near Clarksburg Ohio to Thomas J and Ann Timmons died October 26 1923 at her York Nebraska home aged 78 years 6 months 11 days. She grew up in Central Ohio and attended a country school and the Xenia Ladies Academy. She married John W Wilson on August 3 1866 and moved to Otoe County Nebraska in 1868. Their children included Allison T of Arcadia and Elbert T of Napier.

Stanley Pruyn eight year old son of Mr and Mrs B M Pruyn of Shelby sustained a broken hip Saturday afternoon when he fell under the wheels of a loaded dirt wagon driven by Fred Humiston street commissioner at Shelby He was taken to the hospital and later home under care of Dr Myers The injury though severe is expected to yield to proper treatment

Augustana College Homecoming Plans Completed

Plans for the Augustana Homecoming to be held between November 2 and 6 are complete with large committees appointed. Intended to give alumni the biggest welcome yet, festivities begin Friday evening with a lyceum program and a bonfire pep meeting. Athletics are scheduled for Saturday.
