Alumni from the 20 year class begin arriving for the Record reunion with strong interest and many of the original 28 reserving spots. Several former teachers are expected to attend as honored guests.

Osceola Legion Supports Youth Baseball Since 1940s
The Osceola American Legion William Wolfe Post No 91 has funded and aided youth baseball and softball for decades. Since the 1940s the post promoted men’s baseball in the Cornhusk er Semi Pro League, helped install lights at the county fair diamond, supported Little League and Midget programs, added girls softball in 1973, and now runs seven youth teams with 100 to 120 players, spending about 3500 to 4000 dollars plus many volunteer hours annually.

A two run ninth inning gave the Merchants a 5 to 4 victory over Osceola at Columbus. Osceola led 4 to 3 through eight innings as third baseman Mike Hoffman homered in the sixth. Prokop and Donelson, Lindgren, Wardinger and Steiner starred for Columbus. Osceola heads to Wahoo Sunday May 30 and to Schuyler Wednesday June 2.

Lowell Hanson retired as Osceola postmaster after 12 years of service on Friday May 21 Karen E Gestrine was named Officer-In-Charge for the time being Hanson a Osceola native and Osceola High School graduate joined the Postal Service on April 1 1937 He served in the U S Navy from November 1941 to September 1945 returning to the Postal Service as a Regular Clerk On May 22 1964 he was appointed Acting Postmaster and received the permanent appointment from President Lyndon B Johnson in August 1964
