Osceola High Holds Graduation and Local News Update

Osceola reports a flurry of visitors to Shelby with graduates present and relatives visiting, including Mrs. Clifford Bond Lola Miller and others. An Osceola high school commencement saw 30 seniors receive diplomas with multiple scholarships and letter awards announced by Dr. Henzick and Supt. Wilson.

Garden Club Notes On Azalea Trails And Civic Pride

The Garden Club met Tuesday evening with Mrs. Gunnard Peterson. Mrs. M. R. Anderson described azalea trails and gardens of the South. The program also covered seasonal garden tasks. The next meeting is in June near Memorial Day as visiting former residents return. We have ample moisture and flourishing flora, but weeds thrive too. Citizens are urged to improve yards and civic appearance.

Memorial Sunday Services and Decoration Day Observance

Memorial Sunday services set for May 29 at 11 in the Methodist Church with Rev. A C Monkman delivering the sermon and ex service men urged to attend. Decoration Day events Monday begin at 10 at Muse Theatre and proceed to the cemetery with Osceola American Legion Post in charge. program includes invocation roll call address by Hon. Lowell Walker and songs by High School Girls Sextette plus a Lincoln Gettysburg Address and Star Spangled Banner rendered by local speakers. Legion and ex service men to meet at Legion Hall at 9 30 a m.

Greens Chapel Ladies Aid entertains about 120 in church

HACKBERRY Greens Chapel Ladies Aid entertained about 120 ladies Monday afternoon at the church. Vacation Bible School began Tuesday morning at Greens Chapel. Victor Club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Elmer Carter and daughter.

Stromsburg Social Guests Visit Families Across Area

Stromsburg residents hosted relatives and friends from Osceola Lincoln Denver Slater Omaha York Aurora and Lincoln over the weekend. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Victor Anderson and daughter Emma Mr and Mrs Carleton Anderson and son, Doris Ericson, Margaret Carlson, and many others visiting relatives and attending casual gatherings.

Stoner Club Hosts Pleasant Session at Mrs Anderson Home

About 25 ladies attended the Stoner Club meeting at the home of Mrs Arvid Anderson with Mrs Charles Stewart assisting last Wednesday. The Girls Bridge Club held its final meeting of the season at Miss Dorothy Andersons home Tuesday evening with a miscellaneous shower for Miss Marjorie Dunn. A pink and white color scheme centered around the may pole. Nels Anderson returned to Lincoln last Sunday with Mr and Mrs L C Morgan after visiting Arvid Andersons family. Several local youths attend Bible School in Osceola as students and teachers. Mrs Locke of Osceola Mrs Charles Stewart and Misses Berniece and Lillian Brown visited Ed Watts Sunday to see the Sass Gardens Iris in bloom.

Reverend Monkman Visits Lincoln for League Convention

Rev and Mrs Monkman along with their daughters and Mr and Mrs J Carl Bryant traveled to Lincoln on Sunday to visit relatives and attend the Lincoln District Epworth League Convention where the former spoke.

Crop Field Day set at College of Agriculture

A statewide program for farmers begins Wednesday June 15 with weed ID and discussions on hybrid corn and harvested wheat. The afternoon features a tour of the agronomy farm highlighting rust resistant wheat No 1063 and new grass nurseries with cautions on spread.
