Polk County Old Times Days Highlight Osceola Events
Osceola gears up for Old Times Day with a Thursday parade and parade prizes of 25, 15, and 10 dollars. A teen dance, frontier fashions, a free street square dance, and a camper, silk patchwork afghan and pony prizes are planned. The community play includes Osceola history and old-time pictures.

Dr David H Mickey Nebraska Wesleyan University history professor and grandson of Osceola Governor J H Mickey will speak at the First Methodist Church Osceola next Sunday morning. He will discuss The Heritage is good and attend an open house at the old Mickey Mansion with Polk County Historical Society museum. Dale Watts son of Ralph Watts is home on a 30 day convalescent leave from the naval hospital in Philadelphia after a February car accident at Lakehurst New Jersey.

Osceola high school senior Gregg Urban earned second place in class C shot put at the state meet held in Kearney. Urban threw 53 feet 6 1 4 inches, surpassing his OHS record by a foot and trailing winner Dennis Duff of Bertrand at 55 feet 4 1 4 inches.
