Stromsburg residents backed a 6000 fire truck purchase for improved equipment at a special election Tuesday. The bond issue passed 217 to 100, exceeding the 60 percent needed. Twenty year bonds at five and a half percent with optional early payoff were authorized, with estimated costs of two cents per hundred for maintenance and eighty cents per thousand assessed valuation to retire bonds in six years. Proponents argued lower insurance rates would offset the cost.
