Gerald T. Bahm son of Mr and Mrs H Bahm graduated Shelby High School in 1943 and enlisted December 1 1943 before 18. He trained at Farragut Idaho Camp Peterson and Gyro Compass School in San Diego graduating September 1944. He is an Electrician Mate 3 c aboard the USS Bedford now on sea duty in the Pacific.

Bond drive progresses with first out-of-county donor
Mrs. Emma Enyeart of Hayward California sent the first check from outside Polk County to help reach the bond quota. About 300 out-of-county landlords were sent letters this week, with a total war bond quota of 438000 and a corporate quota of 463000.
