Triple Steal Credited to Harry Davis at Philadelphia Game
In a Philadelphia game at Columbia Avenue grounds, Athletics star Harry Davis executed what is believed to be the first triple steal in the sport. With bases loaded, Davis signaled two runners to start as the pitcher winded, sending a sequence that saw runners advance and Davis score on the plate. Davis also helped pioneer a double squeeze bunt, yielding two runs in six of seven attempts in 1913, though one bunt produced a triple play for Washington when a liner was fielded by Chick Gandil.
