Bernardine Nitsch Qualifies for State in Two Events
Freshman distance runner Bernardine Nitsch broke her 880 and mile records at the C-7 district girls track meet in Grand Island. She placed second in the 880 with 2 31.2 and won the mile in 5 42.2 to earn state qualification. The event drew 14 teams with medals to top six in each event. Osceola placed sixth with 29 points.

A Shelby driver, Wayne L. Schlesinger, lost control Sunday evening April 25 on a curve in northern Polk County and upset in a left ditch. no injury, but about 700 dollars damage. May 5 near Stromsburg Merwin D Carlson and Philip L Burke collided on a county road. Carlson backed onto the road blind by sun, minor damage to Carlson and moderate damage to Burke, no injuries.
