The final roundtable of the season for Cub and Scout leaders in the Big Blue District of the Cornhusker Council, Boy Scouts of America, is set for May 6 at the United Methodist Church in Osceola with Pack 241 of Stromsburg hosting. A second session occurs May 13 in Geneva hosted by Pack 175. no meetings in June or July.
County law and order representatives met in Judge Ed Strom's Osceola chambers to air problems since Polk County's county court system began in January 1973. Present were Judge Strom Associate Judge Mary Rempe County Attorney Philip Nyberg the sheriff state patrolmen and town police. They discussed conflicts between arresting officers and the presiding judge over guilt and other system strains.

The J F. Kennedy Council 5383 Knights of Columbus received seven honors at the state convention in Grand Island. Delegates included Grand Knight Don Gabriel and others. Robert Lux was named a Nebraska delegate to the national Boston convention. Eugene Gabel became District Deputy overseeing Shelby Osceola, David City, and Wahoo councils.
On Friday May 14 the American Legion Auxiliary to William Wolfe Post 91 will offer red paper poppies to remind the community of sacrifices made and the hopes of hospitalized veterans who made them. The program emphasizes rehabilitative support for veterans and their families.
Osceola high school girls track team earned 82 points for first at Shelby with Silver Creek and host Shelby. Jayne Nelson won the 100 and 220 yard dashes, Sheryl Schott captured the 440, Bernardine Nitsch led the mile and 880, while Vicki Kucera won the discus and shot put. Osceola finished seven points behind St. Edward for the Goldenrod Conference runner up trophy.
May 9 to May 16 National Nursing Home Week highlights care for the elderly and disabled. Osceola Good Samaritan Care Center invites the public to visit. open house Sunday May 16 at 2 30 p.m. includes colors, band, recognitions, and a speaker to be announced.
Dr. Ronald G. Joekel associate dean of Teachers College University of Nebraska Lincoln will deliver the main address at Osceola High School May 20. Joekel earned a BA from Nebraska Wesleyan and an Ed D from Nebraska Lincoln where he has served on the faculty since 1967.
