Glen Green Promoted to Aurora Post in Nebraska Power District
Glen R. Green the 43 year old Osceola local superintendent for the Nebraska Public Power District has been named sub district superintendent at Aurora He will succeed Milton R Madsen who retires this summer The transfer takes effect May 15 but the family will move after school ends Green a native of Council Bluffs Iowa attended York Nebraska high school class of 1943 served in the Marines and later worked for contractors in Martin South Dakota and York before joining Consumers Public Power District in York in 1950 He moved to Osceola in 1955 and was promoted to local superintendent in 1961 He and wife Melva have three children Jim Sharon and Brian Melva works at the Samaritan Center Green is active in civic church groups including Knights of Columbus Lions Club American Legion Osceola Chamber of Commerce and the St Vincents Men’s Club He has served as Polk County Radiological Officer for Civil Defense His Osceola replacement has not yet been named.

Spring Thing features classics by OHS band and choirs
The OHS band and vocal groups present Spring Thing 71 on Friday May 14 at 8 p.m. Admission is 50 cents. First half includes sophomore Folk Singers Leather and Lace glee clubs and stage band. The concert closes with Bach Mozart Corelli Gershwin pieces and mid 20th century numbers for band use. Parents of band members may join an officers election after the show.

NPPD reports strong support for new lease plan
Nebraska Public Power District officials told the board in Columbus that about 90 percent of 227 retail towns have approved the distribution system lease. The plan lets communities own their system from Jan 1 1972, then lease back with annual payments plus 5 percent revenue tax and municipal discounts over 15 years.
