Farm Bureau Hosts First Annual Fun Feed in Osceola
More than 150 Farm Bureau members and families gathered Thursday evening May 6 at the First M. E. Church Osceola. Decorated tables with national colors and colorful balloons set a festive scene for a program featuring toastmaster A C Morrill and J A Jimmerson and a lineup of addresses music and readings. The event ends with a decision to make the fun feed an annual affair. Also notes Mike Hoffer eyelid surgery by Dr Lu schen of Columbus and visits by Mrs M J Netsell to Stromsburg.

Strumsburg Graduating Class of Forty Set for Commencement
Strumsburg High School will graduate forty seniors this year, the largest class in the school's history. The final exercises occur Thursday evening at the Methodist Church with Adrian Newens delivering the commencement address. Community members attended events and visits in Hastings Lincoln Oxford York and Des Moines as part of a busy schedule surrounding graduation season.

H. C. Beebe transacted official business in Lincoln Monday. Many residents visited kin in Lincoln and Omaha over the week. A large crowd attended Wonans Club annual meeting May 17 with a drama program. Several accidents and incidents occurred including a farm fire killing chicks and Dr. Shaw injuring his leg in a car accident. The community discussed city matters and hosted multiple visits, club meetings, and social events.
Marshall K Dixon Called Home
Funeral services for Marshall K. Dixon were held at the Methodist Church with Rev. H A Taylor officiating and burial in Osceola Cemetery. Born March 11 1882 in Fort Smith Arkansas he died after a lingering illness on May 10 at age 44 years 1 month and 29 days. He married Mae Kimball of Earling Iowa June 28 1903 and left five children Irene Otis Dorthea Howard and Kenneth. The family moved to Osceola seven years ago from Fullerton and he worked at Farmers Union Store then for International Harvester. He had health issues the last three years and spent the last year at a Denver hospital. He leaves his wife Mae and an aged mother Mrs Mae Jenkins a brother in Oregon and sisters in Texas plus his father Alexander Dixon who died in 1888.

May Festival Highlights Stromsburg Commencement Week
The May Festival at Buckley Park drew about 200 participants starting at 1 30 pm with a Nebraska history pageant. A 130 child human flag honored the nation followed by May Queen Margaret Anderson and Maypole activities. Polk beat Stromsburg in a closing baseball game as locals praised the event.

Funeral services for Mrs Fallie Latham and her son Fred were held at Arborville after their deaths within hours of each other. Mrs Latham was 73 and Fred 44.
