NEW CITY COUNCIL MEETS IN ORGANIZING SESSION
The new city council held its first meeting on Tuesday night to organize for the year. W D Buchholz named street commissioner and A A Gray water commissioner. Wilbur M Johnston elected city attorney. Mayor Snider announced committee appointments including Finance, Streets, Water, Ordinance, Parks, Board of Health, Sewer, and Police with Jay Wastings elected president.

The county board approved contracts for road work and graveling. Roberts Construction Co. won grading on the Osceola north east road. Yant Construction Co. awarded graveling for two Polk County projects. Peterson, Guntier & Shirley awarded grading on the Stromsburg Osceola road, with Mr. Larson prepared to begin once staking is complete.

Local Boy Joins Bozeman Lumber Firm
W. F. Chauner formerly of Osceola has bought an interest in a Bozeman Montana lumber company. He has served as a manual training instructor in Bozeman schools and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chauner of Osceola. Mrs. Frank Johnson was a passenger to Grand Island yesterday.

Death of Perry Randell noted in Route Four area
Route Four reports the death of Perry Randell at his Washington home on Saturday May 1. He leaves a wife and four children along with many relatives. Frederick Timm 85 Dies After Civil War Service
Funeral services were held for Frederick Timm at the Methodist church with burial rites by the American Legion Post. A Civil War veteran born in Germany in 1840, he lived in Michigan and Nebraska and leaves a large family. He and Minnie Miller married in 1864 and later moved to Osceola and North Platte before his death on April 30.

The High School girls glee club won Class B at the state contest in Lincoln under Miss Vivian Lard. The May Festival at Buckley Park will feature an historic Polk County pageant and a picnic lunch. Long Koziol a farmhand and World War veteran from south of Dun can is killed when a Ford touring car driven by A Johnson of Osceola runs off a grade and overturns in a six foot ditch near Platte river bridge. Johnson escapes with bruises. Koziol is crushed and dies, likely instantly. The accident may have been caused by loose gravel on the road. Bodies transported to Columbus. funeral plans pending relatives. The County Attorney will decide on inquest after relatives’ wishes are learned.
