Personal Property Sold For Taxes At Stromsburg
The meat market fixtures of Karl Karlson in Stromsburg were sold by the county sheriff for overdue personal taxes at a public sale last Friday. A Grand Island man bought the fixtures after Mr Karlson ceased meat operations weeks earlier. Delinquent taxes dated back to 1931 and rising such arrears prompt stronger enforcement of tax collection by the sheriff acting on his oath.

The River View high school staged a well attended Thursday evening performance at the community hall followed by lunch. Visitors included Harve McCormick and Eugene Ruff with their respective hosts. Polk county farmers and landlords secure a cash market for sorghum in carload lots this year. J L Welsh of the Omaha Grain Exchange states graders can handle carload sorghum and dealers can market it if sufficient quantities are raised. County agent Peterson notes elevators can handle sorghum as feed locally and in carload lots for reshipment to Omaha, aiding farmers short on livestock.
