One of Osceola High School’s largest classes will receive diplomas at commencement in the Osceola Auditorium on Thursday evening May 15. Baccalaureate services are set for Sunday evening May 11 at the Methodist Church and the Senior Play The Youngest is scheduled for Wednesday evening May 14 at the Auditorium. The program lists the class roll, motto, colors and flower, and details of the baccalaureate, play and commencement events.

A large gathering at the Shelby Methodist Church celebrated the church’s fiftieth anniversary with an affirming program. Two More Parks For Nebraska
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission announces new lake acquisitions along Dorchester Blue River and near Oxford on the Republican river. The Dorchester lake covers 14 acres at 2025 dollars and the Oxford area lake spans a mile and a half, costing 1231 dollars. Both are to be stocked or improved as public recreation grounds funded from hunting and fishing licenses.

4 H Club Enrollment Rise in Polk County and State
Polk County reports 63 youths enrolled in 4 H clubs on April 25 with 79 by May 1, while statewide 8 884 members were recorded on April 25. The Steinwinder notes a 37 percent year to year rise and a goal of 14 500 state wide in 1930. County leaders expect Polk to reach 175 members and expand club work in coming weeks. Bulldogs Place In Hastings Meet
Coach Jerry Parker took five Bulldogs to Hastings for the Central Nebraska Meet, regarded as the state's fastest. Joy cleared 5 feet 6 inches for third in the high jump and 20 feet 10 inches for third in the broad jump. He also placed third in his 100 heat but did not qualify. Joy finished second in the low hurdles until he fell on the next to last obstacle. Rogers cleared 10 feet in the pole vault and was fourth in the high hurdles final. Deland cleared 9 feet 6 inches in the pole vault. Headlee threw 94 feet in the discus and Johnson was fourth in his 440 heat with 57.8. The Johnson Headlee Rogers Jovy relay team won their heat in the half mile relay, 1.39, placing fifth in the final times. Next is the postponed Little Ten Meet and then the State Meet at Lincoln this weekend to end the season.
