Miss Sylvia Fredrickson and Earl Johnson were married Sunday afternoon May 1 1938 at 2 30 oclock in the Baptist Parsonage Stromsburg by Rev Gust Carlson. The bride wore navy blue silk chiffon with white lace and a corsage of blue forget me nots and pink roses. Attendants were Miss LaVerne Fredrickson and Joseph Fjell. The bride is daughter of C O Fredrickson of Osceola and the groom son of Albert Johnson of Stromsburg. A lunch followed at the bride’s parents home and the couple left that afternoon for a wedding trip.
Victor A. Newcomer formerly of Osceola now in Lincoln filed a district court suit in Lancaster County seeking damages of 5000 dollars. He alleges he fell December 16 last year over wiring attached to 15 inch posts along the Lincoln parkway between the sidewalk and curb. The suit names Helen B. Alexander and Grace B. Truell, owners of 245 South Fifteenth Street, Lincoln.
Rev. Hult departed Wednesday for his Springfield Missouri home to enjoy a ten day vacation with his family.
The Osceola Los Angeles Club met Sunday May 1 in California due to rain. Seventy eight attendees enjoyed dinner, speeches by Dr. Gray and Mrs Campbell reading, plus two solos by Mrs Marian George. Special guests included Dr John R Gray and wife from Carmel by the Sea and Mr Mrs Ida Chenoweth Campbell and husband from Philomath Oregon.
Osceola senior class to stage Tempest And Sunshine during Senior Week on May 17 and 18. The Nebraska State Medical Society with the county society sponsors a May 16 lecture titled Tuberculosis in Childhood at the Osceola Methodist Church. Aimed at parent awareness, it stresses testing in schools to uncover infected individuals and reduce exposure for children. The Osceola Community Club backs the program.

Various local visits and birthdays mark a bustling weekend.
A shower was given Saturday afternoon April 30 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Fredrickson for Miss Sylvia Fredrickson. Fern Schweitzer sang and Lillie Chindgren read an original poem. Corrine Johnson and Darlene Johnson delivered gifts in a yellow and white May Basket. Guests enjoyed a yellow white lunch and extended best wishes for the wedding.
The Lutheran Church announces Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. and Morning Service at 11:00 a.m. A Mother's Day Program will replace the usual Vespers at 8:00 p.m. The Ladies Aid meets Thursday with Mrs. Arthur Anderson hosting and Miss Anna Nelson leading. Next Sunday, Mr. Howard Peterson of Polk County Agricultural Agent returns to occupy the pulpit.
The American Legion Auxiliary holds a Friday meeting at the Legion Hall to tie quilts. Members gather in the afternoon for the sewing activity and community service project.
Report from Saturday includes girls and boys events across classes A and B. Notable placings feature Verona Bernt leading kittenball for Class A girls with 68 points and Dale Dunn topping Class A boys with 37 in shot put, plus multiple relay and race results from diverse rural competitions.
Mrs R J Richmond will entertain the Foreign Missionary Society on Thursday afternoon May 12. Local families visited and hosted others over the weekend including Fritz Fisher in Gresham and Henry Johnson’s family in Stromsburg. Church officers were elected at Wesley Chapel Sunday School with Charles Hastings as superintendent and John Thompson as assistant. A new daughter was born to Glenn and Mrs Richards. Mildred Richmond returned to Midland College duties.

Baccalaureate for High Prairie Seniors May 8 at Swede Home Church conducted by Rev. Pengelly. Missionary Society to be entertained May 5 by Mrs. August Carlson and Mrs. Esther Johnson.
Polk county farmers are urged to watch for hatching grasshoppers this spring. Entomologist O S Bare of the Nebraska College of Agriculture notes two striped migratory and yellow differential hoppers hatch from late April to early June with eggs appearing along ditch banks field margins and alfalfa stacks. County agents urge reporting to Peterson or precinct committees to coordinate uniform poisoning.
Mrs Gaye Addison and daughters and Mrs Ted Nicholas of York spent Friday visiting friends and relatives in the area.
The Osceola Women's Club celebrated its fiftieth anniversary with a 1 PM luncheon at the Methodist Church parlor. Charter members Mrs. L. M. Shaw and Mrs. W. F. Kepner were to attend, program included songs by Margaret McFadden and a piano solo by Betty Thelander. Officers for 1938-39 were installed by Mrs. I. D. Huston: President Mrs. George Innesy, Vice President Mrs. P. B. Campbell, Treasurer Mrs. L. E. Wilson, Recording Secretary Mrs. Grimard Peterson, Corresponding Secretary Mrs. Joel Hanson, Auditor Mrs. E. A. Hedlund.
