Mrs Gail Shay of Grand Island visited her parents the Harlesses Thursday. The Farm Operating Banquet was held at the Lincoln Agriculture College Thursday evening. Joe Monson joined Ray Darnell for Sunday dinner in Clarks. Anna and Freda Forss of Stromsburg visited Miss Lillie Chindgren Friday afternoon. Clarence Pierson of Hastings and family spent Sunday with the Harless and Pierson elders. Lincoln visitors included Otto and Harless groups Friday. Marie Sherwood of Clarks enrolled in High Prairie Junior class. Gordon Fredrickson and Mervin Thelander completed Ag College courses in Lincoln and returned home Friday. Virgil Bush and wife of Polk with Adeline Fredrickson were Sunday dinner guests at Walter Bush. Lavina Holm of Genoa spent Sunday with Nels and family. Fredrickson's Co O was a business caller in Omaha Monday. Ernest Waller spent Sunday in North Platte with his brother. Lela Bates of M O Holdrege and Carl Lundgren visited H A Jones home Monday. Rollan Swanson Benedict and Nels family also mentioned.
Holm and family along with Mr and Mrs Norris Anderson and kin gathered Sunday at the Ed Oberg residence to celebrate Mrs Oberg's birthday anniversary.
Lucille Koehler headed the Honor Roll this month with an average of 95.5. A party at the Walter Koehler home included the Graham Campain Dela more McCormick Wamsley families and others, with cards and late lunch. Visitors Frances Urban Delbert Urban Jack From and Mildred Rech joined the Dunns in weekend gatherings at local homes.
Applicants aged 18 to 25 may apply through Judge Norton by March 27 1985 for CCC Camp enrollment. The ruling allows reselection of former enrollees discharged for length of service and honorably discharged enrollees with at least five consecutive months of service.

A Polk County jury in district court found for Ella Shenk and Hannah Fightmaster against Frank Larson after about ninety minutes of deliberation. The suit stemmed from two notes Frank Larson gave to his father, later endorsed to the plaintiffs, with $5484 plus interest at stake. Plaintiffs were represented by W. W. Norton. defense by W. A. Prince and J. H. Grosvenor. Judge L. S. Hastings presided.
Nebraska runs ahead of Iowa and Missouri in 1935 corn hog applications with totals nearing 80 000 and acreage close to last year s sign up. Sign ups close April 1 and late signers may bear extra costs. counties expect about 100 new applications per county as committees finalize checks and appraisals.
Margaret Olson won first prize in the Humorous division and Imogene Hurd took top honors in the Dramatic division at Stromsburg High School. The event, judged by Miss Larlie Lee, featured participants La Vera Olson Evelyn Stanton Imogene Hurd Irene Falk with musical selections by a brass quartet directed by J. O. Payne.
Mrs Earl Colby and her baby daughter were released from Osceola Hospital and returned home. Mrs Tom Schmoker and her son left yesterday. Mrs C W Samuelson and son will be dismissed today. Joe Wieseman admitted for treatment under Dr R L Schroeder. Glenn Green seven ill with lobar pneumonia under Dr Harley Eklund. Mrs Guildford Bryan returned home Saturday after several days at Osceola Hospital. Herman Yelkin dismissed Friday after appendicitis operation.
A Polk County Red Cross notice warns youths not to fly kites near electric wires, avoid metal or wet strings, and not run or climb to retrieve kites. It urges contacting the local electric company for information and is signed by Do M Humphrey, chairman of the First Aid and Life Saving Committee.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Johnston were in Lincoln on Tuesday. The trip appears to be a social or personal visit noted in a local column.
In 1934 nearly 700 Good Citizenship Medals were distributed to high school students. A plan provides that a freshman boy or girl, chosen by the faculty, receive the medal for honesty service courage and leadership, with scholarship as an added attribute. The bronze medal on a red white and blue ribbon carries the winner's name inscription.
A Wesley Chapel missionary gathering at Mrs. Fred Merrick’s home featured a Japanese Tea ceremony pantomime and a Japanese lunch. Rev. and Mrs. Paul Melin hosted callers at the Clarence Anderson home. The Ray Garner family traveled from Arcadia amid a dust storm near St. Paul. Opal Garner, Arcadia High School senior, sought information on schools. The Garner family will move to a farm south of Columbus in about two weeks. Dale Watkins will teach in district 40 next year at a school southeast of Shelby. Mrs. J. N. Jarmin, returning from Florida in December, is recovering in Covington Kentucky at Mrs. Thatcher’s home while Mrs. Thatcher spent a previous summer at the Jarmin home.
Wheat contract signers who wish to abandon part or all of their wheat acreage should register with the county wheat allotment committee. A signed form, filed in the county office, releases the land for planting other crops. Eastern Nebraska growers with extra wheat for pasture must destroy it before heads form to comply with contracts.

A new baby girl arrived near Benedict, and local residents toasted birthdays at the W P Miller home.
District No. 62 reports include Mrs H T Anderson and Irene visiting Mrs Carl Gaver. several students absent last week due to illness. O D D duo meeting with Mrs Ernest Eschler. Miss Freda Forss returning home from Stromsburg after visiting the Wm Fjell home. Local families hosted visits and the district play The Play’s The Thing was repeated in Swede Hone hall with Farmers Union cooperation.
