Osceola St Cecelia fans cheered a tournament game despite initial reports. Channel 5 telecast the game but it was taped for later showing. booster club notes updating details and thanks to Stromsburg supporters. A voter registration notice updates the Clerk's deadline to 9 00 p.m. Friday March 21.

Doane Coach Papik to speak at athletic banquet

Doane College football coach and athletics director Al Papik will headline the OHS athletic banquet on March 26 at 7:00 PM in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available in advance from Pep Club members or by calling the high school office. The event will be served by St Paul Lutheran Church.

Farm-Home Day a Success with New Format Osceola

Farm and Home Day in Osceola introduced commercial displays and lunch tickets at registration, drawing about 125 attendees at the High School Auditorium. Speakers included Dr Phil Henderson and Sen Maurice Kremer, with Dr Burt Evans, Dee Clouse, and others discussing corporate farming, farm policy, rural problems, and community planning. Prizes from local businesses were awarded at the afternoon session and a noon luncheon was provided by local groups.

Legion commemorative stamp goes on sale nationwide

A commemorative postage stamp marking the 50th anniversary of the American Legion goes on sale Tuesday morning with postal offices nationwide. Osceola Post Office led by Commander W F Monson and Adjutant Glen Green were first to purchase, featuring the Great Seal in red white blue and black and inscribed The American Legion fifty years Veterans as Citizens.

Osceola falls 71 63 to Hastings St. Cecelia in Lincoln for Class C state title. Osceola led by none, trailed by as much as 16, 6 6 Hanson and Pavelka strong on boards, Cerny 13 and Gissler 11 points.

Pleasant weather marked State basketball week

Last week brought sun and a rare blizzard in tournament memories. The local team gave a fine showing against the champion but were eliminated in early rounds while other rivals advanced to win the title. Joey Fjell earned radio publicity, with hopes he may return as a referee wearing a striped shirt. Osceola stood out with brothers in action, including S. Rag and Rags arleyn mentioned on page 8.

Mr and Mrs Tom Hofbauer run the operation and plan to hire a salesman and more help in summer.

Scout Cookie and Goodwill Drive Planned by Osceola and Prairie Hills Groups

Osceola Cub Scouts start cookie delivery March 21 with Goodwill sack distribution on March 22 and sack collection March 29. Donations support Lincoln Goodwill jobs and wages for rehabilitated items. Girl Scouts in Prairie Hills begin cookie deliveries March 21, with 62,724 boxes sold in the 19 county council, funding troop activities and Crossed Arrows camp.

Fire crews monitor Davis Creek ice jams near Osceola

Osceola volunteers stayed on duty through most of Monday night to break ice jams on Davis Creek and monitor rising water along Hiway 30A. They closed Nance Street at the bridge to restore flow. By Tuesday morning the water remained over bank full but under control. A special thanks was given to Marie and Lorraine Lewis for coffee and rolls to the firemen during the long night.
