Kindergarten Registration Underway for Next Fall

Parents with a child entering kindergarten next fall are asked to call 747 3121 or write to the school with the child’s name and birth date. A meeting of mothers and children is planned for April in the kindergarten room. At the April meeting mothers should bring or mail the child’s name birth date birth certificate number disease history and immunizations including years given to Mrs. Anderson.

Easter Seal letters to be mailed in Polk County

Polk County residents will soon receive an appeal from the Nebraska Easter Seal Society for Crippled Children and Adults. The 1971 drive runs March 1 to April 11, with March proclaimed Easter Seal month by Gov. J J Exon. Donations fund physical and speech therapy, transportation to medical facilities and special schools, and hospital equipment for the disabled.

Ryan Hill Club launches tree fund for 75 to 100 trees

Ryan Hill Country Club starts a tree fund to plant 75 to 100 larger trees on the golf course aided by a new water main. The estimated cost of trees valves and hoses is 1200 dollars and contributions are invited to Dean Henricksen at First National Bank Osceola.

Eighteen Polk County women attended the first meeting of a medical self help course sponsored by the Women's Safety Organization. March 20 marks the paper drive to bundle newspapers for the Boy Scouts. Osceola scouts start pickup around 9 30 a m Saturday with rural residents urged to leave papers at the first building north of the Co op Oil Station between 10 and 12 a m.

Osceola Book Committee Sets Meeting for Printer Prep

The Osceola Centennial Book Committee will meet tonight at City Hall to begin copying for the printer with aims to finish the first half by August. A Union Press representative will attend the April 13 session. Alumni plan to supply a typed graduates list from 1888 to 1971.

Osceola Teachers Attend Reading Council Meeting in Columbus

Reading council members from Osceola attended the East Central Nebraska Council of the International Reading Association in Columbus Thursday evening. Carol Kreiger serves as council president. A Reading Share-In session was held and a program on Alaska by Dr. Clarence Davis Jr. is set for March 21 at the First United Methodist Church preceded by a soup supper. Consultant named for libraries regional network appointment

Mr Leonard Meinhold was named regional consultant for the Southeastern Nebraska Multi Regional Library Network by Lincoln City Libraries Director Charles E Dalrymple. The project, done with the Nebraska Public Library Commission and local groups, will map information needs from antiques to farming and travel. Meinhold will visit communities to assess local needs for a rural regional network.
