Five hundred searchers comb the hills for Carol Zalud of North Platte. The four year old wandered from a group while arrowhead hunting and was found asleep near sage brush just after midnight.
The Stromsburg Headlight reports Warren Johnson has been named associate agent in the territory by the Lutheran Brotherhood based in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Eleven of forty seven tested drinking water samples from Butler County rural schools were polluted and four contained Bacillus E. Coli, a bacterium common in intestines of humans and animals.
State highway workers battled snow drifts and winds from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. to clear roads to the Clayton Spiliiek farm near Eba for a doctor. The stork beat them to the scene, delivering an eight pound baby girl who, mother and doctor say, are both fine.
Train service on the Union Pacific branch serving Fullerton will return to normal by Tuesday after a suspension dating from December 26. The Nance County Journal reports Fullerton had been without regular rail service for weeks.

Theo Hansen local manager says she will show air ironing from flat pieces to frills and ruffles and even a shirt ironed in three minutes. Demonstrations run all day at Consumers Sales Room inviting local homemakers to attend.
The WSCS of the Methodist Church sponsors a Father and Son banquet on Friday March 31 at the High School Auditorium. Tickets go on sale soon priced at 1.25 dollars for adults and 0.75 dollars for children ten and under.
Mrs. Olive Mickey 89 died Sunday in Rawlins Wyoming and was buried in Osceola after funeral services at Kepner Funeral Home. She was born February 1 1861 in Butler County Iowa and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Osceola Methodist church. Surviving are daughters Nellie Childers Marie Lundgren and Laura Slade son T O Mickey and numerous grandchildren great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Mrs. W E Wilcox died March 13 in a Olympia hospital after pneumonia illness. She and her husband lived near Osceola for years and had gone to Olympia for the winter with their children. Her sister Miss Nelle Wisely had died three weeks earlier. The body will be brought to Osceola for burial with arrangements pending.
Polk County Extension News reports the March 6 Health Institute in the District Court Room drew many attendees. Officials from the State Health Department and Rural Health Specialist Helen Becker of the Extension Service attended. A clarinet quintet provided music and films on sanitation were shown. A committee was formed to explore funds and methods to secure a Polk County Nurse.

Rev and Mrs Paul W Nelson and others spent Sunday with Hulda Gestrine family. 4 H Club members and mothers were hosted by Mrs Harry Rodene and Bonnie Saturday. Luther Leaguers held a roller skating party in Rising City Monday. Adolph Forss and Donald joined Harold Johnsons to celebrate Marlene and Marlowe Johnsons birthday anniversaries. Richard Lundgren and Edna and Conrad Waller visited Gothard Nelson at ork Friday.
William Wolfe Post No 91 Osceola joins the national American Legion in observing the 31st anniversary of the veterans group. The article recalls the 1919 charter and lists original members, noting the post’s community contributions, from baseball to Boy Scouts and Oratorical contests. Dr C R Peterson serves as Commander this year.
The Nebraska Society for Crippled Children funds education and rehab for handicapped kids via Easter seal sales from March 15 to April 9. The University of Nebraska Extension Division runs corrective speech courses for teachers statewide, subsidized by county chapters. About 45,000 handicapped residents are believed in the state.
John W. Mills elected president of Theta Nu, honorary pre medical fraternity at the University of Nebraska. Mills is a junior and son of Mr and Mrs M A Mills Sr.

Carleton Anderson reports two new candidate filings this week. Louie Daum, incumbent First Commissioner District County Commissioner and chairman of the Board of County Supervisors, filed. John I. Anderson, current County Clerk, paid his fee to seek re election as Clerk.
Mrs. O. O. Wallace was buried Wednesday after funeral services at St. Vincent's Catholic Church Osceola. The body was taken to North Bend Nebraska for interment after she died Saturday night at St. Catherine's hospital Omaha where she had surgery last week.
Irvin Gustafson of Osceola has assumed the bulk tank wagon duties for Farmers Co-op Oil Co. succeeding Elmer Berger who moves to the Gilbert Benson farm near Polk. Gustafson previously worked at the Osceola station. Harry Cole took the station job. The Bergers ran a business in Osceola and Mrs. Berger sold her beauty shop to Elsie Unash of Geneva who now runs the shop.
Osceola Chamber of Commerce backs a kite contest at the fair grounds next Sunday at two o clock with ribbons for all participants and winners for design and kite sizes. Judges are John Craven Alex Mills and Robert Sigler Jr. The program includes photography themes and den visits to Kenneth Cornish dark room. Pack meeting set for March 22 at eight p m at the Lutheran church hosted by Mrs Irvin Gustafson Mrs Laura Olseen and Mrs Helen Cole.
Mr and Mrs Will Imhoff and family honored Mr and Mrs John Imhoff on their 48th wedding anniversary with a family dinner last Sunday. Guests included Mr and Mrs A H Schutt of Madison. Lloyd Wamsley and Frank Carman visited George Zimmerman Sunday afternoon. Continued to page five.
Twenty three Polk county rural teachers are registered for the new semester of off campus classes with the University of Nebraska. The group meets Monday nights in the County Superintendent Olive M. McBeth offices. Many have earned 18 hours of credit in the past three and a half years since the course began.

Mrs. Rosella Eis relocated last week from an apartment in Mrs. Edith Heilman’s home to an apartment above the newly opened Dr. D T Kelley offices.
The Friendly Neighbors Club met last Thursday with Mrs. Mauritz Swanson. Mrs. Victor Sterup and Mrs. Wallace Logan led a dress pattern adjustment lesson. Numerous local residents and families, including the Warner, Johnston, Jarmin, Zentz, Campann, Alt, Richards, and Berker households, hosted or visited relatives and friends over the weekend. Mrs. Ben Schmoker was well enough to return home from the hospital.

Mr and Mrs Robert Topinka of Clarks and Mr and Mrs Joe Karges and their girls visited Adolph Kuhnel Sr at Shelby Thursday evening. A good crowd attended the Riverside School gathering last Thursday.
