Sixteen Bands Compete in Transylvanian Festival
Peasants in Ret celebrate a grand festival with sixteen bands, many self made instruments, and ear trained musicians. Judges found it hard to pick winners as quality ran high. A fifteen year old led the third prize youth band. Over 3,000 villagers attended and many travelled long distances. The event sparked wood carved instruments and local music revival efforts.

Salted soil boosts wheat yield as rabbits eat salted stubble
An experiment by an unnamed researcher compared two wheat crops, one grown on salted soil and one on ordinary soil. The salted plot produced a superior harvest, and rabbits later devoured the stubble of the salted crop down to the roots while the pad dock with no salt remained untouched.
Missing World War I Notes in Straits Settlements

Most desirable butcher hogs sold around 9.40 to 9.50 with some to 9.60. sows 8.75 to 9.00. pigs 7.50 to 9.00. Fat lambs rule lower with bids late in the day.
