Farmers Co op Oil Holds Annual Meeting in Polk County
The 28th annual meeting of the Farmers Union Cooperative Oil Association of Polk County was held at the Community Hall in Polk on Saturday March 5. Myron Jones led the meeting as president. Reports showed sales of 371 644.66 with a net savings of 21 262.77 and a year over year gain of 37 438.15. Armand Schmoker and Ronald Carlson were named junior directors for an educational program. Wilber Copeland and Wilber Crown spoke on fertilizers and co op topics. Elton Berck presented a film on what a co op and Lawrence Kansas nitrogen plant dedication pictures. Wallace Sandell was elected director for the district replacing Emil Wilshusen. Lunch followed served by Polk Baptist Church ladies.

Army Cpl Walden N McNaught 21 wife Jo Ann of Pork plays for the 32d Quartermaster Group in Inchon Korea where the team finished second in the Korean Communications Zone tournament. Polk County reports $5680.74 raised in the infantile paralysis drive led by county director Edith Heilman. Half stays local, half goes to the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis as workers and residents are thanked for their efforts. Mrs. G. M. Hill, 75, of Polk, died Friday evening after a period of ill health. Members of the City Council and school board were chosen at the citizen party caucus held at the courthouse on Tuesday March 1. Everette Smith was nominated for the South Ward and Ray Conrad for the North Ward. Nebraska Symphony to Perform in Osceola March 16
The University of Nebraska Symphony Concert group will visit Osceola for one of four out of state appearances this year. The show begins at the Osceola auditorium with 75 cents admission for adults and 35 cents for students. Advance tickets are at Kepners and Osceola students are selling also. Tickets at the door night of the concert. Two Osceola residents were taken to Omaha for medical care. J G Carlson 94 underwent major surgery and was reported in good condition.
