Osceola High to Enter District Speech Contest at Marquette

Osceola High School drama participants Becky McDonald Debbie Carlson Larry Neujahr Andy Kresha Bill Norton will compete in Oral Interpretation Drama Prose Literature Interpretive Public Address and other events at the District Speech Contest March 16 in the United Methodist Church basement. Bulldogs Dominant Win Opens Osceola District Play

The Osceola Bulldogs defeated Central City Christian 66-33 in a Class C district opener led by Bob Gissler with 19 points and Cal Coffin 10. The team built a 17-7 first-quarter lead and extended the margin after halftime before Cedar Rapids edged Osceola 56-55 in the district playoff game, with Dick Wyman scoring 17 and Bob Gissler 12. Two other briefs note attendance at the Nebraska Drillers Convention in Lincoln and Patricia Dahmke completing nursing coursework in Hastings before returning to Omaha.

Pioneer Farm Award seeks Nebraska families 100 years

Roberts to head Osceola Community Club

Charles Roberts elected president of Osceola's Community Club at the February meeting. Officers include Robert Carey as vice president and Ron Christensen as treasurer. The group's first major project is a pork feed March 6 at City Hall to fund Old Times Day and support local initiatives.
