Farmers Oil Plans Building Program Here

The Polk County Farmers Union Oil Association aims to build a large Osceola warehouse and bulk station north of Highway 30A across from the Osceola Locker plant. The facility will store 60 000 gallons of petroleum products and feature dock facilities, railroad spur service, and bulk tanks to serve farm equipment outlets across the region.

Final report from Polk County March of Dimes campaign led by Edith Heilman shows total contributions of 2400.28 dollars below the 3000 dollar goal but up from last year. Osceola Polk Shelby Stromsburg and Rural areas contributed across categories with gross proceeds 2400.28 and net 2351.78 after expenses.

Dwight Team Wins Class C Tournament In Narrow Final

The four day Class C tournament concluded last Friday with Dwight Assumption defeating St. Francis 27 26. Dwight led 20 10 at halftime and 23 18 after the third, while St. Francis rallied late to within one point before the final whistle. Mrs Lily May Deputy Dies At Osceola Funeral Held

Mrs Lily May Deputy born April 21 1868 Monticello Town married Oscar Deputy December 3 1885. Survived by daughters Lucy Bartlett Omaha Mary Howard Los Angeles son David Deputy Council Bluffs ten grandchildren fifteen great grandchildren three sisters and other relatives. Funeral services were held February 26 Osceola with Rev G A Randall and interment in Osceola cemetery.

Fire whistle blows accidentally during windy night

Early Saturday a fire whistle activated about 4:00 a.m. and rang for fifteen minutes without a fire. Volunteers and residents gathered at the fire house before discovering the cause, winds likely tangled the wires, and the signal could not be stopped. After testing, the circuit worked, leaving the mystery of the long blast unsolved.

Carl Frahm 56 a West Point Nebraska resident and longtime partner of W O Transen in the Osceola meat market died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday evening while returning to work near his home. Survived by his widow and two daughters Ruth of Chicago and Jane of Sterling Illinois funeral held in West Point with interment at Gretna Nebraska.
