Former Nebraska congressman M O McLaughlin dies at home
Former fourth district congressman M O McLaughlin of Nebraska died suddenly at his York home while playing with his children. He served in Congress 1918 to 1927 and led York College as president, earlier married life and family noted. He is survived by his widow two sons and two daughters.

Buick Master Six Stolen From Stromburg Garage
A new Buick Master Six Sedan belonging to Alex Scott was stolen from a locked Stromburg garage early Monday. A smaller Buick owned by Miss Helen Scott was left intact. The garage key was hidden nearby, suggesting prior knowledge by thieves. Sheriff VanNoosen is pursuing leads. No insurance coverage. E T Nuquist and family visited Omaha relatives last week.

Stromsburg city council and Street commissioner marked stalls for automobiles around the square enabling more parking in the business district. The Barber Homestead was sold to Linnie F. Ericson last Tuesday. Several locals attended a land sale at Osceola with good results given large tracts. The Murphy Did ’t baseball team will play here at the Chrysler picnic with a large crowd expected.

Lew Miller farms bring good prices at public sale
The 860 acre Lew Miller farms property at the former O ceola Bank grounds was sold at the courthouse auction on Tuesday June 19. Buyers included Adolph Grossnicklaus at 165 per acre for 160 acres and Alfred Grossnicklaus at 143 per acre for 160 unimproved acres nearby. The Ed Grossnicklaus valley farm went for 92 per acre to a party at David City, with 20 acres north sold to Albert Grossnicklaus at 205 per acre and 160 acres north of the site bringing 136 per acre to Jos. McKeas. Hay land of 40 acres went to Jos. Howard at 110 per acre. Newmans GroveNebraska was noted as home.
