City Leaders Approve Tax Levy Changes in Osceola
Osceola city council, in a special meeting, approved the annual appropriation ordinance. Mayor Snider reports a 0.2 mill tax levy reduction from last year, with a one mill increase in the general fund and bond levy adjustments as bonds are retired. Street grading cost shifted from property owners to the general fund, aiding debt reduction as sewer bonds fall from 35 thousand to about 8 thousand dollars.

At the Dist. 18 school meeting Monday Goldie Schmoker was chosen moderator for three years. Rudolf Urban has held the moderator role in Dist. 68 for six terms, nine years on the school board. Mrs. Clara Mickey of Osceola visited with Lee and family. Will Dunn family and Fred Dunn family plus Frances Dunn traveled to Omaha on Wednesday.

A Polk cow owned by R L Smith led the Seward York Polk dairy improvement association May tests among 354 cows. It produced 1800 pounds of milk, 66.6 pounds of butterfat, and an 8 percent test. The regular monthly test separates good and poor cows, as weight and test reveal more than appearance.
