Pvt Robert W Need US Army artilleryman received the Bronze Star posthumously. Major M J Conway presented the medal to his mother Mrs Deila Need of Osceola Nebraska. Need earned the award for meritorious service during operations against an armed enemy in Korea from May 1 to December 7, 1953. He served as cannoneer and later prime mover driver, driving under icy and harsh conditions before his death when his tractor fell from a precipice.

Centennial Car to Visit Osceola June 21
Union Pacific’s air conditioned Centennial Car will travel Nebraska aboard a traveling museum exhibit. Osceola hosts the car on Monday June 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. free of charge at the Union Pacific station.
