Deloss Bucholz Dies in Canada on Fishing Trip

Deloss Bucholz 47 formerly of Osceola died Tuesday afternoon in Canada after a heart attack during a fishing trip with a group of men. Funeral services will be Friday in Storm Lake Iowa and Saturday at the Osceola Methodist Church. Survived by wife Laura and daughter Carla. Burial in Osceola cemetery.

Jobs Daughters Install New Queen for Six Month Term

Miss Barbara Wieseman presided over a candle light ceremony on June 10 for the Jobs Daughters 14th Installation. New Queen Joyce Roberts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Roberts, will reign six months. Officers installed include Marian Inness as Senior Princess and Betty Lou Burritt as Junior Princess.

Dinner guest visits in David City and Osceola man returns ill

Mrs. Phoebe Morgan dined with her children in David City on Thursday. Chas. E. Anderson came back to Denver after five weeks visiting Osceola area relatives and friends and is now hospitalized at Denver General with jaundice.

Osceola Attends Centennial Synod in Rock Island Illinois

Osceola clergy and locals joined the Centennial Synod of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Rock Island with about 4,000 attendees from the U S and Canada. The week featured THE CREATION, a merger vote toward The Lutheran Church in America, and 42 seminary graduates honored.

Jones-Branting Reunion At Buckley Park

The annual Jones Branting reunion was held at Buckley Park on Sunday June 12 gathering forty seven relatives. A picnic lunch followed with cake ice cream and coffee. Committee members were Mrs Kermit Branting and Mrs Martha Calvert of Omaha with attendees from Omaha Fremont Osceola Hordville and Stromsburg. Next year’s gathering will be the second Sunday in June at Buckley Park chaired by Mrs H B Branting and Mrs Paul Jones.

Polk County girl crowned District 5 Dairy Princess at Columbus contest

Barbara Wieseman of Osceola won the District 5 Dairy Princess title at Columbus, beating eight rivals from several counties. She will compete for Nebraska Dairy Princess at North Platte on June 16 with a $250 scholarship for the state winner. Barbara is a Polk County 4-H dairy club member for eight years and plans to show in future district and state fairs.
