A Racine resident John J. Culshaw won 75000 dollars in the Irish Sweepstakes. He bought a 2.50 ticket and was offered 2100 when others detected his win. Garden Club Flower Show At Kepner Store
The Garden Club sponsored a flower display at the Kepner store last Saturday with 52 vases from 20 contributors. Roses iris agerions oriental poppies columbine and many varieties were shown. Some flowers were taken to Osceola hospital and churches and future shows are planned. Next meeting Tuesday evening will be in the Club Garden at 6 30.

The Achievement Program of the Vacation Bible School will be held at the Presbyterian Church Friday evening 8:00 p. m. Over 125 pupils have been enrolled in the School this year. A free will offering will be taken to defray expenses. We feel that the school has been worth the effort. Your cooperation has been appreciated. Alonzo Merrick dies at Shelby after long Nebraska era
Alonzo Merrick born May 3 1870 in Ontario Canada moved with family to Iowa and Nebraska before settling near Shelby. He married Anna Schaal January 30 1896 and had son Dr A J Merrick of Fremont. Survived by wife and son funeral held at Shelby Methodist Church with Reverends Longacre and Pengelly officiating.

Ralph K. Bradford, a deaf mute, says Osceola is his 4 467th town on a world tour. He travels by auto graphing, carrying 11 scrapbooks in three kits weighing 70 pounds. Bradford expects to finish travels in 1940 and publish a book. He has logged 64 988 miles and shared letters from city and county officials acknowledging his visit.
