Bellevue Historic Buildings Win Preservation Efforts
Bellevue's City Hall and Presbyterian church, built in the 1850s, become priority preservation targets. Mrs. H. D. LeMar purchased the sites to protect them as ties to territorial Nebraska history. The effort mirrors local pride as Bellevue grows near Omaha and historic groups restore other era structures.

Nebraska Officials See Small Pay Hikes Approved
The Legislature approved modest raises for four elected state officials and one appointive officer, increasing salaries for Secretary of State Auditor Treasurer and Attorney General by 1000 annually starting next term, with the Adjutant General rising from 6600 to 10000. The clerk of State Engineer John Hossack was not boosted. Several bills to extend retirement benefits were killed, leaving only a plan for Douglas and Lancaster counties to establish county employee retirements. Governor Morrison voiced disappointment at the action and urged motorists to heed the interstate speed limit and use headlights during Memorial Day period.
