Polk County appoints home agent Shirley Cox
The County Extension Board on May 23 employed Shirley Cox of Bridgeport as County Home Extension Agent. Cox, a June 10 graduate in Home Economics from the College of Agriculture, begins July 1. She is the first home agent since June 1956 aside from a 1959 six month stint by Mrs. Evans.

New Store Changes Hands In Osceola Community
After thirty eight years in the Lewe business Mr and Mrs R Anderson have disposed of the Riftway Store effective Monday. New owners Mr and Mrs Harold Pearson Bellevue bring twenty six years in groceries twelve in management at a Bellevue supermarket. They have three children Patricia West Bill and Sandra and moved to Osceola occupying the Jerry Johansen residence. The Pearsons attend the Lutheran Church while the Anders ons plan remain in Osceola.

An intensive Osceola survey of industry business and economic life began May 25 conducted by local leaders with Consumers Public Power Districts Community Development Department cooperation. The Polk County Historical Society met at the Stromsburg Hotel and outlined an exhibit and a float for the Swedish Festival on June 22 and 23. Dana Vincent is general chairman with a slate of assistants. W. G. Herrman was named to secure a schoolhouse on the county fair grounds. The next meeting is June 15 at the Osceola Courthouse to place antiques in the lobby. Mrs. Lloyd Hahn presided. Curtis Flodman reported on the Osceola old fashioned show from April.

June Camp for Diabetic Children at Camp Floyd Rodgers
