Missionaries C C Herrmann Return After Forty Years in India
Rev and Mrs C C Herrmann arrive in Osceola after forty years as India missionaries. Health issues forced Carl to stop work and leave India before the hot season. They reached San Francisco June 2, visited Mrs Herrmann’s sister in Seattle, and headed to the east coast to be with their three sons. They plan to settle in Seattle.

Field Day And Barbecue Big Success In Polk County

The Polk County Fair is about a month away with plans nearly complete. Agricultural exhibits and machinery displays are expected to attract attention as more complete offerings from multiple companies are planned. Shelby Man Drowns In Lake Babcock
Louis Nicolas, a Shelby carpenter and World War I veteran, drowned when a new aluminum boat capsized on Lake Babcock near Columbus Sunday. Nicolas disappeared after sinking several times while fellow passenger Max Harms struggled to reach shore. Harms survived with injuries and awaits medical care after his exertions. The body was recovered Monday morning. a heart attack or cramp is considered possible. An obituary will follow.
